Engineering and the Environment ranks high in Guardian University Guide 2015
The quality of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton has once again been recognised in the Guardian University Guide 2015 with all Engineering subjects ranking in the top 5.
Southampton is number 2 for Mechanical Engineering for the second year running, which also includes Acoustical Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics and Ship Science. Mechanical Engineering has featured in the top 2 within the Guide for 6 consecutive years.
Civil Engineering has moved up 11 places now ranking 5 th in the UK. Our Civil Engineering courses also have the best employment rate 6 months after graduation of all Civil programmes in the country.
Both Environmental Sciences and Audiology are ranked in the top 20.
Dean of Engineering and the Environment, Professor William Powrie comments: "Our programmes are designed to give students both a sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and the confidence to apply that understanding to solve practical problems. We have put considerable effort into enhancing the student experience with more hands on practical and design work in the last couple of years or so, and it is gratifying to see this beginning to be reflected in the league table rankings."
