Reference management has finally entered the 21 century with the web based system Mendeley. It has a number of advantages compared to traditional systems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendeley
Lecture capturing has been made incredible simple last year with the introduction of Panopto on ISS computers. http://www.panopto.com/ I will give a short overview of both and report from my experience with their usage.

Toys on our Desktops is an occasional series of talks by internal speakers aimed at spreading awareness of some of the computing tools that are now available to all of us but that we haven’t necessarily had time to explore.

Mainly aimed at researchers, undergraduates and MSc students on the engineering programmes. But everyone is welcome to attend.
