Dr Nuch Tantisantiwong, Lecturer in Finance in Southampton Business School and Ms Katie Bizley from the Faculty International Office visited Bangkok mid-February to meet prospective students and engage with some of our partner universities.

The visit included attending a good number of our university appointed student recruitment agent fairs as well as the British Council Study UK Exhibition. Thailand has a strong demand for business related masters programmes particularly with a digital focus due to a boom in digitalisation and skill gap currently in the workforce. Many Thai students looking to study business also plan to become successors of their family businesses and thus programmes such as our MSc Entrepreneurship and Management are particularly appealing to offer students both management and leadership skills.

Part of Katie’s visit was on behalf of the University International Office, where she had previously worked. Therefore, the GREAT scholarship launch with the British Council for select Robotics related masters programmes attracted the attention of a number of present high ranking Thai universities such as Assumption University, Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University as well as international universities based in Bangkok including Stamford University.

Dr Nuch, who completed her undergraduate studies and first masters in Thailand, contributed extensively to raising the profile of Southampton through research collaboration visits as well as public engagement including television interviews. Previously, Dr Nuch has given talks on subjects such as BitCoin finance with the British Council.

The University of Southampton will next visit Thailand again in March and we look forward to continuing to meet and counsel Thai students.
