A summary of the latest news and intelligence from around the Faculty.

A report on a study by Dr Anne-Sophie Darlington, published in the peer-reviewed journal ACTA PAEDIATRICA, has received widespread coverage in Holland.  The study, undertaken by Anne-Sophie at the Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands with the Make a Wish Foundation, explored the influence of a granted wish on children with life threatening illnesses.

Congratulations to Professor Dan Bader who, with support from publishers Elsevier, has achieved an Impact Factor (IF) for the Journal of Tissue Viability. The Journal has been assigned an IF of 1.176 and is ranked 32/103 within the Thompson Nursing category.

Dan, who took over editorship of the journal in 2011, says: "It is anticipated that this development will enhance both the quality and quantity of manuscripts, which will be submitted to the Journal, particularly from our academic colleagues."

The British Society for Rheumatology is launching its Simple Tasks campaign on 3rd October. Our NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Podiatric Rheumatology, Dr Lindsey Cherry, will be profiled on the campaign website about her dual clinical academic research role. To support the campaign before its launch, join its Thunderclap.

A short film about our Faculty's collaboration with Southampton Football Club is now available on the University's home page. The video features interviews with England international Rickie Lambert, Vice President Don Nutbeam and our own Professor Maria Stokes.
