I have had the opportunity to undertake work placements and internships in various statistical analysis roles, which have allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems and enhance my analytical skills. Additionally, participating in intercultural communication course has improved my ability to collaborate effectively in diverse teams. Moreover, I am working on research project that has not only deepened my understanding of statistical methodologies but also honed my research skills, preparing me for future academic and professional endeavors.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Southampton?

International reputation: Russell Group, state-of-the-art research facilities and British Council STEM Scholarship.

What do you enjoy the most about living in Southampton or Winchester?

Southampton’s rich history, picturesque surroundings, and access to beautiful seaside, that is my go to place, which make it an enjoyable place to live and study.

Have you undertaken any extracurricular activities? How have they enhanced your experience?

Currently, I have joined the Pakistan Society (paksoton) and participating in their events has taught me the importance of discipline and time management. Along with this I have been joined the various events related to crafting and art. Overall, these activities have enhanced my university experience by providing opportunities for personal growth and social interaction outside of the classroom.

What do you think you have gained from your degree that you wouldn’t have developed without it?

To be honest, Statistics has equipped me with a wide range of valuable skills that have significantly enriched my personal and professional development. One of the most notable benefits has been the expansion of my professional network and the opportunity to connect with peers, professors, and industry professionals through coursework, research projects, and extracurricular activities. I've gained proficiency in statistical software, data analysis techniques, and critical thinking, which are helpful in my professional trajectory.

What are you most proud of from your time at the University of Southampton so far?

A proud moment during my time at the University of Southampton was attending the first social event of the International Scholar Reception and representing Pakistan by placing my picture on the world map. This served as a reminder of how far I've come and the unique journey I've undertaken, from my humble beginnings in a village to proudly representing Pakistan on an international stage. Literally, I felt honored to share my experiences and perspectives with fellow scholars from different countries.

What will you do with your degree after you have finished your studies?

I aim to secure a position in industry that allows me to apply my skills in a practical setting. Whether it's in the fields of finance, healthcare, technology, or academia, I am confident that my degree will open doors to various career paths where I can make meaningful contributions and continue to grow professionally. And I also have a plan to do PHD after getting some industrial experience.
