Event details

'Romantic Imports and Exports' An event organised by the Southampton Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies.

The University of Southampton has been selected to host a prestigious multi-disciplinary conference on Romantic Studies. Up to 200 international scholars are expected at the University of Southampton for the four-day British Association for Romantic Studies event in July 2013.
The conference will examine the period 1780-1830 and invite contributions from leading historians and musicologists, as well as specialists in Romantic literature.

The Plenary speakers are listed below.

This is a major biennial event for scholars of the Romantic period in literature, history, philosophy and music. Following the theme of 'Romantic Imports and Exports', the conference will look beyond British Romanticism towards the expansion of ideas and cross-cultural exchange, at literatures other than English in Britain and consider the fate of British Romantic writing and thought in Europe and the United States.

Further details about the conference will be available at a later date.
