How is history transformed if we tell the story of England through 25 poems, written down between the eighth century and today? What happens to our understanding of the past, of literature – and of the nation itself? What kinds of moments, imaginaries and surprising intimacies do we encounter? Whose voices do we hear?

In this seminar, Catherine will reflect on the process of writing A History of England in 25 Poems , including how the book reflects her journey between Humanities disciplines, how she has navigated her first experience of ‘trade’ publishing, and some of the surprises, challenges and discoveries made along the way.
