Part of the Music Research Seminar Series

The paper will look at a particular figure of moving music from the narration of a film into its storyworld, exemplified by scenes from 'Far from Heaven', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and Douglas Sirk melodramas, and consider the idea of ‘retrospective prolepses’ in leitmotivic film scores more generally.
