Ritesh Kaushik, a former Chief Marine Engineer who completed the LLM Maritime Law in 2016-17, was the winner of the London International Shipping Week (LISW) Tomorrow's Business Solutions Award 2017.

His winning concept was "Introduction of 3-D printing of spare parts and tools in the maritime industry on a commercial scale". The idea was contested through three rounds and the six best ideas went to the final before a LISW Judging Panel of well-known shipping figures, held at UK Chamber of Shipping, London. As the winner, Ritesh had the opportunity to present his concept to international delegates at the LISW Conference Day at Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Ritesh commented: ‘Many thanks to the University of Southampton Law School for giving me the confidence to apply my knowledge and express myself fearlessly and confidently!’

During his time here at the University of Southampton, Ritesh was also among a small group of staff & students selected to ask their question to Lord Neuberger during an event in January 2017.

All at the Institute of Maritime Law extend their congratulations to Ritesh for his prize.
