The Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) programme aims to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge research that will improve understanding of the way ecosystems function, the services they provide and their relationship with the political economy and sustainable growth.

Two out of the three 2011 ESPA Grants are coordinated at the University of Southampton: ASSETS ( http://www.espa-assets.org ) and Deltas ( http://espadelta.geodata.soton.ac.uk ).

Paul von Gardingen, the ESPA Director will present the programme aims, present findings and future funding opportunities during his next project visit in Southampton.
