Event details

One of the most exciting emerging bands in the UK, this female vocal group will be sure to bring something very different to Turner Sims following their performance at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Festival.

The Boxettes are an all-female vocal group based in London. Their distinctive sound makes fine use of the complementing styles of their voices: Alyusha,Yvette, Neo and Kate, and current World Female Beatbox Champion Bellatrixall combining to evocative and powerful effect.

Since forming at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2007, the band have played nearly every festival in England, put on several shows in USA, France, Germany and India. Closer to home, The Boxettes have put on shows at some of London’s finest venues, including Ministry of Sound and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. The Boxettes built up a fierce reputation in 2010, establishing themselves on the Chai Wallahs tour as one of the most exciting emerging bands in the UK.

Since then, The Boxettes have moved further forward, being selected toheadline at HMV’s festival, The Next Big Thing and booked to play the highly exclusive Apple store (at the largest Apple store in the world). The Boxettes have worked on numerous collaborations including the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Pulp, as well as featuring on advertising campaigns such as T-mobile and Eurostar whilst also starring on BBC Radio 1, 3 and 6.

Following their success on stage at Glastonbury, Womad, Secret Garden and many more The Boxettes will catapult themselves into the popular music scene over the next 12 months. The Boxettes have an unconventional a-capella sound with tight beatbox work set against dreamy, sundrenched harmonics. The Boxettes are by now well used to the expressions of disbelief on the audience faces as they perform with swagger as well as good nature.
