Chifuniro Somanje
Chifuniro Somanje is a second year PhD student in Social Statistics and Demography. Her research focuses on how adolescents in sub–Saharan Africa access and use modern contraception. Her broader research interests and experience span maternal, adolescent, and child health. She has worked with international research organisations such as the Africa Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), contributing to projects that support African countries in accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals particularly in areas such as population dynamics, public health, and food security.
The scheme is a great opportunity for her to strengthen her skills in evidence translation and stakeholder engagement, as well as exposure to practical policy processes that bridge research and implementation.
