Freya’s PhD research is about UK marine fisheries management, with a particular focus on how global and regulatory shocks affect the socio-economic and environmental pillars of sustainability. Her work adopts a systems-thinking approach, drawing on qualitative data from interviews with fisheries stakeholders and secondary quantitative data from a range of sources. The project aims to improve understanding of how shocks can influence marine fisheries sustainability and resource resilience, with the goal of better informing future policy development.
Freya’s research interests include fisheries management, civil food resilience, marine spatial planning, environmental policy, and mixed-methods research.
