Luca Allegranza Quicke

Luca Allegranza Quicke

Luca is a second-year PhD student from Geography, funded by the SCDTP. He investigates the lifecycle of virtual worlds, from the initial spatial imaginaries of creators to their eventual decline into digital ruins. His research examines how platform authority influences our ability to experience and remember online spaces, frequently resulting in the erasure of significant cultural histories. Focusing on the intersection of space and technology, Luca utilises qualitative and immersive research methods to critique the cyclical nature of tech-industry hype and its broader geographic consequences, resting on debates about how we approach the challenge of memorialising digital culture. This PhD project immediately follows a recently completed MSc in Social Research Methods.
