Event details

A Discover Oceanography session is a unique, hands-on opportunity to come aboard our state of the art research vessel Callista and take part in a series of fascinating marine experiments.

We welcome people of all ages, from 8 to 88, who have an interest in marine science. You will receive a brief introduction to the science of oceanography and then spend  three hours out on Southampton Water, collecting biological, physical, chemical and environmental data. Using both new and historic sampling techniques, you will get a taster of what it is like to be a scientist working on a research vessel.

We will be running two sessions on the 24th July, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We typically have 20-25 people on each trip.

Sessions cost £15 per child and £20 per adult.
