Members and Non-Members Welcome

With 6-8% of the world's electricity expected to be created by wind turbines in 2020, the pressure is on designers to make that electricity increasingly cost-effective. Blade design will continue to be a critical part of this cost reduction, as rotor diameters grow and so blade strength, weight and noise requirements become increasingly challenging.

In this lecture, Dr. Cane will track 30 years of blade development - from 12m blades made in a shed, to the 80m blades of today and the cutting edge technologies we can expect to see tomorrow.
