Careers in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Geology and Geophysics will be showcased at a special event on 24 April 2013 at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton.

More than 300 students are expected to discover the wide range of employment opportunities for graduates and listen to panel discussions from professionals already working in industry.

Third year Oceanography student Jade Martin is organising the event, with Career Destinations from the University of Southampton. She says "Graduates with Ocean and Earth Science degrees are qualified for many challenging and rewarding careers. We are hoping for a good turn out from our students because it is never too soon to start thinking about what you want to do after university."

Panellists will include Sarah Birchenough (SIFCA), André Cocuccio (Maritime and Coastguard Agency), David White (Oil Spill Response Limited), Michael Smart (Mott MacDonald) and William Symons (Senergy) and Chris Smith (FUGRO).

There will be stands from companies and organisations including Seastar, Southern Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority (SIFCA), EGS, Deloitte, Neftex, IBM, Fugro GEOS, ION-GX Technology, Senergy, Mott MacDonald, Royal Navy, Ordnance Survey and CGG.

The careers event will be held between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
