Event details

Nick Gooding: "Cargo Insurance".

One particular contribution of the Institute of Maritime Law to the one-year LL.M. course in Maritime Law is the popular series of lectures by visiting practitioners, which take place every Wednesday afternoon in the Autumn and Spring terms. The speakers are all from the shipping and marine insurance industries and give students an insight into how the legal principles studied in the modules of the LL.M. Programme are put into practice in the world of shipping and international trade. The Spring Programme usually includes a boat trip around Southampton Docks.

The programme has been designed primarily for students studying maritime law options at postgraduate or undergraduate level. However, lectures are open to all law students who may find the topics of interest. The seminars are intended to complement your studies by providing insight into the legal, commercial and practical background of maritime law, material which goes beyond the content of normal academic lectures.

The lectures are organised by Prof P. Todd (P.N.Todd@soton.ac.uk). If you are interested in attending any of the seminars please contact the Institute Secretary (iml@soton.ac.uk) to confirm that there is space available on the particular week. If you are interested in speaking in the seminars please email Prof. P. Todd for the availability over the next academic year 2014-2015.
