Event details

Hosted by Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence, Adam Hill, this charity DataDive in partnership with the Office of National Statistics and DataKind UK will take place on Thursday 20 – Friday 21 September in Southampton. A DataDive is a marathon-style event designed to help charities do initial data exploration and get answers to questions in a short amount of time. Even though DataDives themselves take place over two days, there are 6-8 weeks of prep ahead to understand the needs of the organisation we are working with and, of course, cleaning and anonymising their data in preparation for the dive. Approximately 25 volunteers are being sought to attend the two day event to help two charities with their data science and analysis problems. The charities being assisted are Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity, with modelling shelter needs at a local and national level and Parkinson’s UK looking at the regional coverage of treatments, Parkinson’s trained nurses and diagnoses. These are excellent events where you will both learn new skills, network and have the opportunity to use the scientific analysis skills you’ve developed to deliver social good. Please register your interest using the linked form below; there are also more specifics about the event.
