Doing astrophysics around neutron stars: Their global properties and the properties of orbits around them

Neutron stars are some of the most interesting astrophysical objects. Unlike regular stars or even white dwarfs, they are compact enough that general relativistic effects become significant in the description of their structure and of the astrophysical phenomena that take place around them. In this talk we will discuss some interesting properties of the structure of neutron stars and of the spacetime around them, what do these properties imply for the orbits in a neutron star spacetime, and what are the astrophysical implications.
