Magnetized binary neutron star merger simulations in numerical relativity

Merger of the binary neutron stars (BNS) is one of the most promising source of the second generation gravitational wave detectors. It is mandatory to build a physically reliable model of the BNS mergers, and we investigate what the role of the magnetic fields is during the merger. We've performed a high resolution numerical relativity simulation on the Japanese supercomputer K. I will introduce our result in this talk.
