How to run through walls: An analytic approach to ultra-relativistic collisions of solitons

Collisions of solitons and domain walls are often very messy affairs and require numerical approaches. However, I will show that such collisions in the ultra-relativistic limit possess a well-defined perturbative approach, with an expansion in the powers of inverse Lorentz factor times the inverse velocity. This allows us to attack these problems analytically without the use of numerics. As a demonstration, I will derive the velocity and phase shifts in the collisions of solitons with periodic but non-integrable potentials.

Just for fun, I will also show some cool movies from GRCHOMBO, a new numerical relativity code with adaptive mesh refinement!
