Collapse in Einstein-dilaton Gauss-Bonnet gravity

Although General Relativity (GR) has passed all tests so far with flying colors, the most recent of which being GW150914 in the strong-field, dynamical regime, a full theory combining GR with quantum field theory is still amiss. Guided by more fundamental candidate theories of quantum gravity, one possible extension of GR are so-called quadratic gravity models. In this talk I will focus on Einstein-dilaton Gauss-Bonnet gravity and, specifically, discuss properties of compact objects and black-hole formation processes in this theory.
