Title: AdS_3 Holography at dimension 2

Abstract: In this talk I will briefly review some of the motivation for which General Relativity does not provide the ultimate description of black hole physics: this motivates the study of black holes in string theory. Then I will discuss how holography is instrumental in understanding the microscopic description of black holes: it does not only provide a microscopic interpretation of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, but it is also a powerful tool to understand how the black hole microstates manifest themselves in the gravity regime. In fact, associating a CFT state to each gravitational solution, holography provides a map between the asymptotic expansion in gravity and the expectation values of chiral primary operators in the dual CFT state. Working with the D1-D5(-P) black holes, I will review the map for operators of dimension 1 and discuss its extension to certain operators of dimension 2, including all possible mixing between single-trace and multi-trace operators.
