Abstract: In this talk I will present some results involving L-infinity algebras in gauge theories coupled to matter. The first half will be a physicist's introduction to L-infinity algebras in field theory using the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. In the second half I will move on to some applications of this underlying algebraic structure, in particular motivating perturbiner methods and presenting a generating function for tree level amplitudes.
