We have a number of established and new routes to ensure all our staff and students are engaged in sustainability:

Annual Sustainability Strategy Update - 8 July 2026 Hear about the new University's Sustainability Strategy 2026-30. This Annual event is an opportunity to learn more about how the University is embedding sustainability across research, teaching, knowledge exchange and operations, while shaping the student experience and wider institutional culture.

Past Events

UoS Sustainability Strategy Student Event - 2025 SIG organised and hosted an event on Wednesday 26th November at Wessex Lane Halls for University Southampton Students. This included a workshop on the current status of the targets of the Strategy undergoing the refresh for 2026-30, contained in its six Goals.

Annual UoS Sustainability Strategy Update - 2025 The Annual event on Friday 4th July to update the community and stakeholders on the University Southampton's Sustainability Strategy.

Sustainability at Southampton: Goals, progress & how to join in - 2025 This event was part of the Southampton Science & Engineering Festival, introducing the Strategy, key milestones and an overview of the recently develped building-level energy and emissions dashboard.

Annual UoS Sutainability Strategy Update - 2024 This event provided an introduction to the University's Strategy, highlighting sustainability targets and its agreed six Goals. Discussions on sustainability topics included ethics and a food policy.

Across the campus you will see various digital screens where updates and events are shared around sustainability. In halls of residence there are also sustainability information boards that provide answers to your questions and visuals to understand how the University is addressing sustainability.

Below is a link to the SUSU sustainability societies page and events where you can contact directly if you’d like to find out more. You can also feed information through to the SUSU Union President and SUSU Sustainability Officer, who act as student representation on several University committees.
