The inaugural 2022 Technician's conference will take place on March 30th in building 38 and the adjoining building 40 on Highfield Campus, and is an opportunity for technicians right across the University to meet and network, as well as celebrate their contribution to teaching, research and infrastructure within the wider University.
All technicians, from all departments and at all grades, are invited to attend, along with staff who have a technical role but are not part of the formal TAE pathway.

Workshop Sessions
Workshop sessions are an opportunity to learn more about opportunities and ongoing projects spearheaded by technicians here at Southampton. Sessions for the 2022 conference include:
- Sustainability in Laboratories and Workshops
- What is Job Evaluation and How To Write A Good Job Description
- Apprenticeships and Sustainability Workshop
- Working towards professional registration
- Wellbeing and Stress in the Workplace
- Publishing as a Technician
Poster Session
The poster session is an opportunity for the wider University to come and learn about the diverse ways technicians contribute to teaching and research, as well as maintain vital infrastructure here at Southampton. Poster topics can include:
- Research projects
- Facilities and infrastructure management
- Skills and techniques
- Teaching and demonstrating
All staff are invited to come and have a cup of tea or coffee and find out more about our technicians and their work at the afternoon poster session.

Technician of the Year Awards
