Mudita Patel M.A Fashion Design (Womenswear)2017
I have been highly exposed to the fashion industry. I’ve met some high-profile designers, and been given opportunities to grow and gain confidence.
I chose to study at Winchester School of Art because I liked the sound of the modules and the course structure, and also the University of Southampton has a good reputation.
Winchester is a great place to study. It’s a small, quiet town away from the hustle and bustle, which makes it a peaceful place to concentrate on your studies, and it’s a safe environment. I really enjoy the working atmosphere; there is constant support, and nothing makes me happier than seeing the progress of the work I create.
While at University, I have been highly exposed to the fashion industry. I’ve met some high-profile designers, and been given opportunities to grow and gain confidence. I completed an internship at Samson Soboye, where I got to meet professional designers in person and discuss my work with them. This gave me the opportunity to explore my potential and learn more about myself.
I also participated in fashion shows in Winchester and Southampton, and as a Course Rep I got involved in organising events for the Fashion Design programme. This taught me how to adapt to new people and new scenarios, which is a great skill to have in the fashion industry.
My advice to new students would be to keep as open-minded as possible. Be ready to absorb everything that comes your way - you can learn faster and more effectively!
