Professional Engagement

If you are interested in working with Stuart and the University of Southampton there are a number of ways for professional engagement. Contact Stuart via email for more details.

Collaboration - The University of Southampton is always looking to partner with experienced companies in collaborative research projects, either funded via a funding body (e.g. EPSRC, InnovateUK, EU H2020) or via direct commercial contracts. These will typically fund an academic and one or more postdoctural researcher(s) for several years, allowing deep research into an academic area with the expectation of delivering significant academic results coupled with advances that can lead to commercial exploitation and the associated early adoptor advantages.

Consultancy - The University of Southampton regularly engages in consultancy activities for commercial and public organizations, providing expert opionion, reviewing the state of the art, writing technical reports for customers and guiding customers keen to enter new technology areas.

PhD's and Industrial Placements - The University of Southampton encourages partners to part fund PhD's (e.g. CASE awards) and/or host MSc students for industrial placements. This is a great way to fund research at a relatively low cost, allowing postgraduate students to work on academic research topics aligned to your particular organisation's objectives. It is also a great way to directly engage with our top postgraduate talent, with a longer term view to recruitment.

ECS Career Fair - The University of Southampton hosts an annual ECS career fair, where 80+ partner organisations can directly engage and impress top talent from the year's graduate cohort. This event can be attended by an organisation at a relatively low cost, and provides excellent exposure for your organisation to new graduates actively looking for exciting careers.
