To use certain systems off campus, you’ll need to connect securely to the university network, with the best option depending on whether you’re using a personal or university device.
The SVE gives you full access to everything including filestore services, software, library resources and licensing of university software applications such as SPSS.
If you’re using your own device, we advise using the SVE for the best all-round experience.
Please note: It is important to disconnect from the VPN when you are not using systems or services that require this connection, as each system has a maximum capacity. For more information, please sign into SharePoint and visit: https://sve.soton.ac.uk/
If you’re using a university-managed device set up by iSolutions, we advise using the virtual private network (VPN), Global Protect. This connects your computer to the network, so you can access all university web and filestore services.
You can access library resources via the SVE or Global Protect, just enter the following address in your web browser: https://library.soton.ac.uk/homepage. Please note, the Library recommends using Global Protect for the best user experience.
