Alumni Email Service

After you qualify or leave the University, you can continue using your student email account for around five months, giving you ongoing access to University systems and services.

After this, your email will automatically switch to an alumni email account, which you’ll keep for one year following your Alumni Welcome Email. This welcome email is sent out from the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) in the September or January following your graduation/leave date, whichever is soonest. At the end of this first year period, you will have the opportunity to opt in for another 12 months, as part of our pilot scheme.

This benefit ensures you can keep using your University email address without interruption after you leave. We had planned to phase this service out due to security risks from inactive accounts, but following consultation with students, feedback from alumni, and an internal review, we are pleased to re-introduce it as part of a two-year pilot, starting in September 2025.

We aim to make this an annual opt-in benefit for alumni and will confirm details directly with account holders, following the pilot analysis. However, we cannot guarantee that at this stage; safeguarding your data and our University systems remain a priority. You will always receive at least 28 days’ notice before any required action.
