The AI Growth Alliance, a Hampshire County Council collaboration
The AI Growth Alliance (AIGA), led by Hampshire County Council and supported by the Future Towns Innovation Hub (FTIH), is a new regional partnership designed to build a thriving and inclusive artificial intelligence economy across Hampshire and the Solent. Supported by colleges, universities, employers, and civic organisations—including the South Coast Institute of Technology—the alliance aims to position the region as a central player in the UK’s AI revolution.
Its mission is to help people from all backgrounds gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in an AI-driven world. By connecting learners, educators, and employers, the alliance seeks to create opportunities through education, innovation, and career development, ensuring that the benefits of AI are widely shared.
The alliance’s goals include:
- establishing Hampshire as a catalyst for AI transformation
- accelerating adoption of AI across sectors (particularly among micros and SMEs)
- developing a skilled, diverse workforce through training, bootcamps, apprenticeships, and career transition programmes
It also focuses on fostering innovation and infrastructure—such as data-sharing platforms, power, and connectivity—while promoting responsible AI practices.
Finally, the alliance aims to raise the region’s profile to attract investment and encourage AI companies to establish a local presence, driving prosperity and global competitiveness.
