'The Great War and the Moving Image' Event

- Date:
- 15 - 16 April 2014
- Venue:
- University of Kent
Event details
International conference jointly organised by the University of Southampton and the University of Kent, and held at the latter’s Canterbury campus.
The conference intends to explore the First World War through all forms of moving images including cinema, television and computer games. Rooted in interdisciplinarity, not least re the cross-fertilization of history with the wider military and media communities, a conference focus is the manner in which genres have translated across media and received images created popular understandings of the war and fed into wider commemorative processes. A particular interest is exploring the moving image in terms of circulation, distribution and representation, hopefully identifying fresh research synergies as the basis for future collaboration.
