Graduation Ceremony at O2 Guidhall, Southampton

After almost five years since starting a PhD within IROE at the University of Southampton, I have successfully graduated with my thesis titled, “Synthetic cone penetrometer test (CPT) data for geotechnical design: Evaluating the impact of resolution”.

It was a day to remember, having been a distant concept for such a long time, and really allowed me to process and reflect on all that I achieved in the culmination of four years of hard work. I could not have done it without the support and guidance of my supervisors Prof Susan Gourvenec and Dr Jamie Crispin, as well as the encouragement and friendly atmosphere of all those in IROE.

The ceremony took place at the O2 Guildhall, a fitting venue, appreciated even more after having my MEng graduation at St Mary’s Stadium. I was also lucky to have Jamie applauding me from on the stage. I celebrated with my family and friends. It was made even more special by being able to share this moment with Oliver John, who began and ended his PhD journey at the same time.
