General information
If you have a health condition, disability, or require special access arrangements to fully participate in our Lifelong Learning classes, you will have the opportunity to provide details when making your course booking.
Student number
As a Lifelong Learning student, you will receive a University of Southampton student number. This will be provided at the start of your course.
Enrolling as a Lifelong Learning student
Enrolment is the formal agreement to become a student of the University for the whole, or part, of the academic year. You must enrol to access tuition and facilities such as online teaching resources, the Hartley Library, and discounted membership at our sport and wellbeing facilities.
Information for staff and students
Your Lifelong Learning student profile is separate from any staff or standard student profile you may already hold. You must enrol separately for Lifelong Learning courses using your Lifelong Learning student number.
ID card
Lifelong Learning students are entitled to a University of Southampton student ID card once enrolled.
If you are already a staff member or student, you will use your existing ID card and do not need to apply for another.
At busy times, ID card production can take 2 weeks or more. Cards will be available for collection from the Student Hub at Highfield Campus, and you will be contacted when your card is ready.
For more information, please visit The Student Hub.
Course certificate
Courses are non-credit-bearing and have no exams or pre-assessment. However, a certificate of attendance can be issued upon completion of a course, provided you have successfully enrolled and attended at least 70% of the lessons.
Under 18s
We are unable to accept bookings for anyone under the age of 18.
