Want your research to have direct impact in Westminster (and beyond)? Join PPS’ Parliamentary and Communications Officer, Tiffany Withers, for this key session on how to demystify parliamentary engagement for academics. We’ll cover key knowledge exchange mechanisms, including how to:

1. Target effectively - Identify parliamentary inquiries and debates relevant to your work
2. Write with impact - Create evidence submissions that get noticed and quoted
3. Get invited - Position yourself as a go-to expert for oral evidence sessions
4. Navigate the system - Understand committee structures, timelines, and decision-making processes
5. Build your network - Connect with MPs, Peers, and parliamentary researchers
6. Follow through - Track your impact and leverage parliamentary engagement for REF/KEF
7. Seize opportunities - Respond quickly to calls for evidence and urgent inquiries

Speakers Bio

Tiffany Withers

Tiffany Withers works at PPS as the Parliamentary and Communications Officer, where she helps academics bring their research to Parliament and policymakers. With a background in International Relations and experience in University Enterprise, she specialises in connecting researchers with MPs and devolved administrations both locally and internationally.
