New App

Sport and Wellbeing are delighted to announce the arrival of our new UoS Sport app. Having arrived last week, we are pleased to note that a significant portion of our customers have already taken advantage of its convenient utilities, all on your smartphone or tablet. This includes such features as access to the latest Sport and Wellbeing news, timetables for the pool, gym, and fitness classes, and information on Watersports courses.

In addition, customers are also able to use the app to make bookings for a wide range of activities offered by Sport and Wellbeing. This includes the swim and gym sessions currently present under social distancing measures, fitness classes, and AU and IM activities. Using the app, you can then view all scheduled bookings in case you need a reminder or manage your bookings to cancel or rearrange if a particular time is no longer convenient for you.

The app is available for free on both Apple and Android. To download it, simply search “UoS Sport” into your chosen app store and install. We will be creating a short guide on first time access for any customers encountering difficulty in logging in.

Please find a useful step-by-step guide under Useful Downloads at the bottom of this page.

Time Changes

Please be aware that, from Friday the 18th of September, we will begin staggering the entry time for gym sessions by ten minutes in order to reduce queuing between those using the pool and those using the gym. To clarify, where swim sessions will always begin on the hour, gym sessions will now begin at 10 past.

As before, customers are encouraged to arrive at the facilities no more than five minutes prior to their reserved session.

Government Guidelines Update

As of the 14th of September, the UK government has tightened lockdown restrictions such that groups of no more than six individuals are permitted to gather in any one place. We understand that this has caused some concern to a number of customers, who may be unsure of what impact this will have on the leisure and fitness industry.

To this end, it is important to clarify that this does not impose any restriction on the activities at Sport and Wellbeing and that customers are still permitted to attend so long as they continue to maintain appropriate health and safety measures.

Reminder of the Gym Journey and Swim Journey and COVID H&S Page

Since our reopening on the 7th of September, it has been greatly encouraging to see how thoroughly all customers have followed the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. If you are not already aware of these instructions, please see our dedicated COVID-19 Health and Safety webpage. Included are outlines on how you can maintain efficient social distancing through what we have referred to as the Gym Journey and the Swimmers Journey. Furthermore, you will find signage placed across the facilities for your reference.

Reminder of New Pricing for PAYG and Membership

For anyone interested in attending Sport and Wellbeing facilities for the first time, or who have may not have returned since lockdown began, please be aware that prices have changed upon our reopening. The new prices are as follows:

£12.99 per month for students

£14.99 per month for UoS Community Partner

All monthly memberships also entail a £15.00 joining fee which has been waived for the month of September.

In addition, we also offer a £4.50 Pay As You Go fee for any who may not be looking to commit to a membership at this time. £4.50 will allow you a one-time access to most facilities offered by Sport and Wellbeing including swimming, gym sessions, fitness classes, and court usage.

Finally, the Sports Pass is now completely free to anyone looking to take part in University of Southampton Athletics Union or Intramural activities. Please note that AU and IM clubs may charge an additional joining fee, and all Community Partner members will also be required to purchase an Associate Membership (https://www.susu.org/about/membership.html) to partake in society activities.
