Reimagining Sue Clowes Student Project

A two-part student-led project by Second Year BA Fashion Design students builds on the ‘Collecting Sue Clowes’ exhibition running from November 15th to January 18th at The Winchester Gallery.
In the first part, students styled and reinterpreted garments from Mikey Bean’s extensive archive of Sue Clowes’ work. Through photoshoots, styling, and creative direction, they reimagined the energy and cultural significance of the 1980s with a fresh, modern voice. These outcomes were featured in Decoded magazine, which launched during the exhibition’s opening, and are on display in the West Side Foyer, beside the gallery.
The second part, which asks students to ‘reimagine’ Sue Clowes designs and inspiration, culminates with a fashion show featuring original garments created by the students and inspired by Clowes’ work on Friday 17th January. The work channels her innovative spirit while offering fresh perspectives on culture and individuality.
The jewellery designed and made by students on Saturday Club that was also inspired by ‘Collecting Sue Clowes’ exhibition will be included as accessories for the BA Fashion Design fashion Show on 17 January.
