A recent event at the Winchester School of Art focused on embedding digital workflows into fashion education.

Supported by the Fashion & Textiles Department, Matthew Coats, Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion Design, recently convened a cross-institutional roundtable exploring the use of CLO3D – an industry-standard design tool that enables real-time garment simulation and virtual sampling to help students visualise and refine designs in a digital-first workflow – in fashion education.

The event brought together colleagues from Winchester School of Art, the University of Brighton, and CAD for Fashion to reflect on how 3D digital workflows are embedded into undergraduate teaching.

Matthew led the session, supported by several WSA staff from both academic and technical teams, helping to facilitate rich discussion around hybrid learning, digital equity, and sustainable studio practice.

Matthew said: “the roundtable marked a valuable step in building collaborative approaches to digital pedagogy and curriculum innovation. A full report is now available on ePrints”
