Subject: [SOAF] new milestones for CaltechAUTHORS
To: SPARC Open Access Forum <SPARC-OAForum -- arl.org>

CaltechAUTHORS <http://authors.caltech.edu/> is the largest of
repositories constituting Caltech CODA (Collection of Digital
Archives) <http://coda.caltech.edu/>. A pair of articles from Janet
Hering's lab <http://oacaltech.blogspot.com/2008/07/hering-lab-creates-gel-probe.html>,
published under the American Chemical Society's ACS Author
AuthorChoice program
<http://pubs.acs.org/pressrelease/author_choice/TOCpopup.html>, were
added to CaltechAUTHORS on 24 July 2008. The addition of these
articles brought the CaltechAUTHORS record count to 10,000.

CaltechAUTHORS is composed primarily of as-published journal articles,
but includes a wide variety of other document types (theses, patents,
books, conference papers, book chapters, websites). The latest Optics
Express article from Changheui Yang's lab
<http://oacaltech.blogspot.com/2008/10/yang-lab-applies-fzp-projection-to-ofm.html>
brings the article count to 10,000, as of 2 October 2008.

Caltech CODA is in the midst of a migration from eprints2 to eprints3.
CaltechETD <http://etd.caltech.edu/>, with more than 4,750 theses,
will be transitioning from the etd-db platform to eprints3 in the near
future.
