ILIaD is no longer active.

During 2016, a review of ILIaD concluded that the continuing provision of effective and sustainable support for staff development and technology-enhanced education would be best addressed by embedding the functions previously based in ILIaD within iSolutions, the Library, the Faculty of Social, Human and Mathematical Sciences, and Human Resources.

As an interim measure, if you have a question or require support in any of these areas, please contact either HR; your Business Relationship Manager (iSolutions); Academic Engagement Librarian (Library) (click on the Contact Us drop down at the top and select your Faculty) or the newly formed Centre for Higher Education Practice and they will be able to redirect you as appropriate.

Tamsyn joined the University in October 2012, after being a Learning Technologist at Bournemouth University for 3.5 years, where she developed online resources for Academic Skills and Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) as well as training PAL Leaders and delivering workshops in these areas. Tamsyn liaised with academics to understand their immediate and strategic needs for technology enhanced curriculum design as well as helping to improve the user interface in Blackboard and enhance the student experience. Tamsyn was involved in the successful implementation of a University-wide Online Assignment Handling project, which recommended the use of Turnitin for assignment submission and marking.

For eight years prior to working in learning technology, Tamsyn taught a wide range of subjects in local schools and FE providers. Her background is in English Literature, Media and Cultural Studies; she also holds qualifications in Graphic Design. Before teaching, she worked in various HE and medical libraries.

Tamsyn became interested in the potential of Technology Enhanced Learning as faculty ILT champion in a local sixth form college that was pioneering Moodle in 2003. Since then she has worked with a range of VLEs.

Tamsyn has a keen interest in the benefits of lecture capture (such as Panopto ) and Audience Response Systems. She was chairperson of the Staff Disability Network at Bournemouth University, which gave her an insight into the challenges faced by a wide range of of users; consequently, she is interested in assistive technologies.

Helping academic teams to use technology and develop their courses is a key part of Tamsyn’s role. She is currently faculty liaison for Humanities, but is happy to work on projects across the University. Tamsyn has supported the production of FutureLearn MOOCs, including ’Shipwrecks and Submerged Worlds: Maritime Archaeology'. She is passionate about the use of mobile devices in education and coordinates the iPad and Alternative Devices Coffee Clubs.
