Kerry started her career in Audiology in 1998 as a Student Audiologist, working at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. In 2000 she moved to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester as part of the Modernising Hearing Aid Services programme first wave, fitting digital hearing aids for the first time in the NHS. In the next few years Kerry worked towards a BSc in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement before obtaining her MSc in Audiology at the University of Southampton in 2005. The clinical scientist training programme at that time was the Certificate in Audiological Competence, which Kerry completed in 2006. She then spent the next 13 year working within the NHS, rising to the post of Principle Clinical Scientist at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust. It was whilst in this post that Kerry obtained a MA in Health and Social Care Management (2016).
During her NHS time Kerry has specialised in adult diagnostic assessment and rehabilitation as well as vestibular assessment. She has always taken a keen interest in student training, being responsible for both BSc (PTP) and MSc (CAC/HTS/STP) students in multiple roles.
Kerry has worked with the British Academy of Audiology Service Quality committee for several years, recently working towards updating the national onwards referral criteria for audiologists.
Whilst in the NHS Kerry worked on several research projects. During her early career she was part of the team which developed the optimum criteria for the Monothermal Caloric Screening Test, a paper still referenced today in national standards and procedures for caloric testing. In her last NHS role Kerry worked with one of the largest suppliers of Hearing Aids to the NHS on development of a new Audiology Pathway and Hearing Aids which required no PTA but a screening tool to assess suitability.
