Module overview
This module is the second core practice module of the programme. Through it you will develop your art at a more advanced and in depth level, in theory and in practice, within the wider context of your growing knowledge and experience of the global context of contemporary fine art.
Your chosen mode of art practice, in whatever medium you employ, will demonstrate increasing sophistication of execution and reflection.
The module supports all art activity, regardless of medium. It provides you with a context, and support, to consolidate your exploration of new dimensions of your art work while establishing a deeper understanding of the relation of that work to the larger context of contemporary fine art.
The ambitious intellectual consideration of your own and others’ art ideas takes place within a challenging and creative environment that values the diversity of practices that constitute art today.

It aims to develop your awareness of how to refine your thinking and its practical applications, in a more sophisticated and coherent manner.

Tutorials will continue to support the ambitious development of your art, in theory and in practice. Guest artist lectures will provide benchmark standards for art practice today. Study trips will continue to provide real world experience of art now.
You will also have the opportunity to explore an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary fine art with students studying other disciplines.
An optional study visit will familiarise you with current practices in an international context. But it is understood that as this visit is self-funded, it may not be possible for all to attend.
