Research interests

My research intersects social, cultural and economic geography, with a particular focus on geographies of home, work and mobility. My PhD examined relationships between home and work among Vietnamese migrants in London. My research interests include the geopolitics of home, work-home relationships in the city, migration and diaspora and material culture. My research draws upon a range of qualitative methodologies, including interviews, ethnography and visual methods. Prior to my PhD, I conducted ethnographic research while volunteering with women-led organisations on the Myanmar-Thailand border.

PhD research

Home, work and migration among Vietnamese people in East London (2016) Queen Mary, University of London.

Supervisors: Professor Alison Blunt, Professor Parvati Nair.

Funding: AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award with the Geffrye Museum (2012-15).

Research project

2016-2018 – WORKANDHOME (PI: Darja Reuschke). This ERC-funded project explores the social, spatial and economic drivers of home-based self-employment and its impact on society through the lens of home-based workers. I will be using ethnographic approaches and textual analysis to examine home-based working and coworking within homes, as well as exploring the significance of social media in home-based businesses.
