I am Director of Programmes for post graduate (post-qualifying) programmes in the School of Health Sciences. In this role I oversee the development and continuous improvement of a suite of programmes. I also lecture in health promotion and module-lead the post graduate modules, work-based learning and the MSc dissertation.
My doctorate examining self-management of a long-term condition was completed in June 2021.
Currently I am involved in two small research projects. One is a cross-university project investigating the potential of integrative encounters to impact design and delivery of health care services. The second researched mature student's experiences at the University, looking at the barriers and facilitators for academic success.
I teach health promotion theory and practice and have a specific interest in health behaviour change. I lead the MSc dissertation and work based learning, both contribute to our PGT programmes aimed at health professionals.
I've been fortunate to have experienced three careers, the first as a science teacher, then as a Senior Health Promotion Specialist for the NHS and now, since 2006, combining the previous two careers as a lecturer in public health in the School of Health Sciences.
