Terms and Conditions of Applying for Accommodation

  • By submitting an application you are not automatically guaranteed an offer of accommodation in University Halls of Residence. This is dependent upon the eligibility or type of student applying, for example a first year Undergraduate or an International Postgraduate. In addition it also depends on the date of submission of the application.
  • Although the information provided on the application form will act as a guide in the allocation of accommodation, it may not always be possible or recommended to allocate according to the preferences of the applicant.
  • Upon submitting the application form for accommodation the status of the applicant will be checked against our student records system for outstanding conditions, e.g. confirmation of A-level results, degree awards etc. Offers of accommodation are dependent upon all conditions of offer to study being met by the applicant.
  • Offers of accommodation will be sent by email and will expire if not responded to within the deadline detailed in the offer. The offer will include information of the hall to be offered. Exact room details will be confirmed upon arrival at hall.
  • All applicants are required to commit to a payment method for their Halls of Residence Fees at the time they accept their offer of accommodation.  The University permits only two methods of payment: i) by Direct Debit from a UK Bank or Building Society Account, ii) by Credit/debit Card.  All deposits paid are deducted from the last instalment of the halls fees
  • New Postgraduate students and Current Undergraduate students are required to make a prepayment when they accept their offer of accommodation. Offers will be withdrawn if prepayments are not received. Offers will be withdrawn if deposit payments are not received.  All deposits paid are deducted from the last instalment of the halls fees.
  • All information contained in the application will be dealt with and stored in confidence and will only be used to facilitate the allocation of accommodation.
