When should I arrive?

You can move into your Hall on the date your accepted contract begins. To find this date log into your account at www.onlineaccommodation.soton.ac.uk, navigate to the Contracts section and view your accepted contract.

Arrivals Weekend for the academic year 2011/12 is over Saturday the 24th September and Sunday 25th September.

Due to the large number of students arriving over the course of the two days, the moving in is staggered to reduce the number of people arriving at the same time. Below are the recommended times for arrival.

We understand that it may not be possible to move in at the recommended time, but please do try to keep to these times as much as possible to reduce congestion on the day.

If you intend to arrive outside of these days, please contact arrivals@soton.ac.uk detailing when you intend to arrive. Failure to do so may result in termination of your contract.

Arrival Times

  • Self-contained flats, Studios and En-suite accommodation all arrive on Saturday 24th September 2011
  • Standard, Enhanced and Premium (i.e. all accommodation that is not ensuite) arrive on Sunday 25th September 2011

Additionally, arrivals are staggered throughout the day:

  • Female students should arrive between 08:30am and 12:00pm.

  • Male students should arrive between 02:00pm and 05:30pm.

If you are still unsure of when to arrive, please contact the Accommodation Hotline on +44 (0)23 8059 5959.

On moving in day there will be parking restrictions in the roads surrounding the Halls of Residence. This is to help ease congestion on the roads and to make moving in as smooth as possible. However, there will be extensive parking facilities available in the Halls car parks over the course of the weekend for you to use. It is important to stress that the council will be making patrols during Arrivals Weekend, and any cars parked illegally in the no parking areas or on existing double yellow lines could receive a parking ticket.

Upon arriving at your Halls of Residence car park, you will be issued with a parking permit that will be valid for 45 minutes.  This should be easily enough time to check in and unpack, and we ask that when you have unpacked that you move your car offsite to allow other residents the opportunity to move in.

Alternative car parking is available on Highfield Campus (the main University Campus), and Uni-Link will be running buses throughout arrivals weekend to transport passengers to and from the Campus and the Halls.
