Electrochemistry, Interfaces & Materials

Electrochemistry, Interfaces & Materials

Electrochemistry, Interfaces & Materials have research programmes in biosensors, electropolymerized films, nanostructured materials, acustoelectrochemistry, sonoluminescence, scanning electrochemical microscopy, electrocatalysis, fuel cells, analytical chemistry, carbon nanotubes, solid state electrochemistry, lithium batteries, the metal/solution interface and corrosion.

Synthesis & Catalysis

Synthesis & Catalysis

The Synthesis & Catalysis group is involved with all aspects of the synthesis, characterisation, properties and applications of new molecular and supramolecular compounds. The groups spans the traditional areas of organic and inorganic synthesis with research programmes reflecting the breadth of the subject including total synthesis, organometallic chemistry supramolecular chemistry and the study of reaction mechanisms.

Research Support Services and Facilities

Mechanical workshop

We have a wide variety of equipment and specialist services to support research activity within the School. This equipment and expertise is also available to other groups within the University and to institutions and industries in general.
