Postgraduate research programmes at the Southampton Education School provide opportunities to gain a research qualification at master's or doctorate level.
It can be a major step to decide to study at this level, particularly if you are already established in a career. We know from experience that success comes from a combination of your own enthusiasm and dedication, and the tailored support and guidance from the School. Central to this support are good communication and the early establishment of a strong relationship with your research supervisor(s).
If you are thinking about taking a research-based degree, there are various course options to explore. As a Russell Group university, we have very experienced academic staff here at Southampton. We have also worked hard to develop an unusually flexible set of postgraduate research-oriented programmes. Many of these can be taken on a part-time basis to fit in with your other ongoing commitments.
If you already have a research topic in mind, you could contact an individual member of staff according to their research interests, to see if he or she might be a potential supervisor. Alternately, you may contact the relevant Programme Tutor for further advice. You are encouraged to look at our research centres and review the research themes that we support.
