The Statistics group carries out research of international standing in methodology and substantive applications.

Group Overview
It is part of Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute, S3RI, through which there is close collaboration with statisticians across the University, and particularly those in the Division of Social Statistics. Current research is focussed in the design and analysis of experiments, statistical modelling and computation, and medical statistics.
The group organises the S3RI Research Seminars and Medical Seminars to support the Masters programme;other seminars are organised by S3RI
Key Facts
Currently the group has 9 academic staff and 10 Ph.D. students and offers Ph.D. degrees in statistics, as well as an MSc in Statistics with Applications in Medicine. The group was a founding member of the UK Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS).
